As frozen and waterlogged pitches wreaked havoc at the weekend, one of the most relieved managers was Chirk’s Richard Cooke Williams who was dreading the thought of his sides NEWFA Cup clash at Sychdyn being wiped out and causing a backlog of games. It was far from being a pretty opening half on a quagmire of a pitch but after a barren opening half it all came good in the end. On the hour Naz Farhat struck twice and in a late flurry, Steve Allman, Jason Willams and Alun Williams eventually made the tie safe.

There was scant action in the Premier Division but what a game there must have been at Brymbo who were on the canvas at half time when visitors Corwen had them looking down and out and trailing 3-0 after Will Roberts(2) and Ryan Harden had opened up a three goal cushion. Steve Jones weighed with a double salvo to set the platform for the mothers of all comebacks, Stewart Parry levelled the clash and it was therefore quite fitting that the games best player Azzy Davies netted the Brymbo winner with 12 minutes remaining. Coedpoeth United signaled they are back to their best and they sank Llangollen Town 3-0. Nicky McCormack notched a goal in each half and man of the match Ashton Williams cemented the win.

With Steve Davies back at the helm, FC Cefn demolished Hawarden Rangers 5-1. A sloppy start however saw Rangers take an early lead with less than 5 minutes on the clock. Nicky Williams(2), Paul Mazzarella and Lee Jones carved out a 4-1 half time lead and then Williams completed his hat-trick in the second half which capped an excellent all round display. Things could have got worse for the visitors but Sean Jones missed a penalty.

All remaining games at this level fell victim to the weather.

In Division One, Borras Park Albion showed why many think they are a cut apart from the rest and they destroyed Mold Juniors 12-0. Nial Challoner again proved what hot property he is and he weighed in with a nap hand of goals. Wrapping up the whitewash were Stuart Williams with a treble, Matt Rowlands, Corey Smart, Barry Torrence and Adam Roberts sealing this one sided affair.

Leon Bowen signaled his return to the Castell Alun line up by converting a hat-trick in his sides 6-0 romp against Hawkesbury Villa. Completing the debacle were the much travelled Alan Rocke(2) and rookie Phil Evans.

It was always expected that Colin Parry would steady the LEX ship and his side came up trumps to defeat Glynceiriog 5-2. Back on the scene was Derek Nurse and he added to strikes from Jamie Evans, Owen Williams(2) and Richard Wright.

Penley seem to have turned the corner and best demonstrated by their 5-3 success over Acrefair Youth and their marksmen were Andrew Watkin with treble, Aaron Williams and Ian Davies.

Just three games survived in the Reserves Division and the renaissance at Cefn Druids continued and they sent Borras Park Albion crashing to a 9-3 defeat. Aaron Blackwell and Ian Hughes notched two goals apiece with Dean Williams, Alex Williams, Lewis Jones and Jack Edwards completed the debacle.

Overton shared a 1-1 draw with Gresford Athletic and the hosts netted through man of the match Rob Ward.

Ruthin Town chalked up a 5-2 victory over Castell Alun Colts who hit back through Nathan Davies(2) but making up Ruthin’s tally were Jack Williams and Iolo Hughes wit two goals apiece and Alan Davies.

There was very little Reserves and Colts action and the only game which survived saw Garden Village go down 4-3 against FC Cefn. On target for the winners were Alex Williams, Josh Foulkes, Neil Valentine and Gareth Hill who fired an injury time winner.
